Thanks to generous community partners, Farmington Services for the Elderly assembled beautiful Thanksgiving baskets to be delivered to 85 Farmington Seniors. Every supermarket gave generously: Highland Park Market donated apples, oranges grapefruits; Stop & Shop donated grapes; Price Chopper donated clementines; and Shoprite donated bananas. Fresh baked goods were in the baskets, too. The Gables and Middlewoods of Farmington provided cookies and Avon Health Care Center provided muffins. Services for the Elderly’s board members adjourned their November meeting and got to work assembling the baskets which were later delivered by the organization’s Meals on Wheels volunteers.
“We are thankful to have so many caring businesses in Farmington who help us remember our seniors during the holidays,” said Nancy Walker, Executive Director Services for the Elderly. "The Holiday season is often a lonely, emotional time for many seniors. Receiving these colorful baskets definitely lifts their spirits and makes them know people care.”
