Special Olympics Penguin Plunge in Farmington

Special Olympics Connecticut will hold its annual Penguin Plunge event at Winding Trails in Farmington on Sunday, January 25th.

Jump into the icy water with NBC Connecticut Morning Anchor Todd Piro and raise money to support Special Olympics’ champions of all abilities. Signing up in advance at www.soct.org is strongly encouraged. Check-in the day of the event will take place at Winding Trails, 50 Winding Trails, Farmington at 8 a.m.; the plunge at 10 a.m.

This annual fundraiser encourages friends from the Farmington community and beyond to come together and take the plunge into icy cold waters to support over 14,000 Special Olympics athletes and Unified Sports® partners who participate in Special Olympics programs and competitions throughout the year. All are invited to participate, including individuals, friends and families, and teams representing schools, businesses, organizations and clubs.

Special Olympics’ Penguin Plunges provide a fun and festive atmosphere and also feature music, refreshments, awards and parades of plungers in costume to enjoy. To join in the fun, Penguins must be at least 8 years old and need to raise a minimum of $100. In addition to the awards for top fundraisers and best costume, Penguins receive incentive prizes for their fundraising efforts.
