FARMINGTON, CT — Town officials this week unveiled a new web page dedicated to updating the public about plans to transform the old Farmington High School building into a new Farmington Town Hall.

The page, unveiled earlier this week on the town's website, includes detailed links and summaries about where the project stands.

So far, the town is planning for a referendum later this spring to approve a $16 million apropriation to transform what is called the "1928 Building" into a new town hall. No date, however, has been finalized.

The "1928 Building" is the old Farmington High School portion that will be left standing when most of the facility is torn down as part of the new high school project.

The Farmington 1928 Building Committee pitched the idea before the Farmington Town Council in January, with council members voting to charge the committee with further planning for the old FHS building to be a town hall.

Earlier this month at the March 2 committee meeting, members offered an in-depth presentation on that proposal, including floor plans and architectural renderings.

While the cost of the project is estimated to be at $16 million, the town is utilizing $7 million in American Rescue Plan Act funding to offset some of the cost.

This project is separate from the $135.6 million Farmington High School building project approved by voters in 2021.

That will be going on concurrently with the town hall project should it be approved at the polls this year.
