FARMINGTON, CT — A state audit shows that Tunxis Community College "repeatedly" violated state travel policies by reimbursing an employee for more than $82,000 in travel expenses in 2016 and 2017.

One trip was a posh stay on the Las Vegas Strip.

The Hartford Courant published a detailed story on the audit's findings Thursday, the day it came out.

According to the Courant story Auditors said the Tunxis employee stayed in out-of-state hotels 41 nights in those two fiscal years, half of which cost more than $300 per night. The Vegas trip included $400-a-night lodging on the Strip.
