State Rep. Mike Demicco (D-Farmington, Unionville) was recently endorsed by the Connecticut Education Association and American Federation of Teachers Connecticut. The following is a release from his campaign:

Mike Demicco, State Representative (D-Farmington, Unionville) and candidate for re-election, received endorsements from the Connecticut Education Association (CEA) and American Federation of Teachers (AFT) Connecticut who praised Demicco for his commitment to children, teachers and public education.

“On behalf of the CEA’s 43,000 members, I am honored to endorse you in the 2014 election for the 21st House District as a ‘CEA Friend of Education,’” said Sheila Cohen, CEA President. “You have consistently proven yourself to be an advocate for children, teachers, and public education. Throughout the 2014 legislative session, you steadfastly held to your commitment and ensured that our members’ voices were heard. Your constituents are fortunate to have you working for them in the General Assembly.”

“Mike has consistently stood up for the working people of Unionville and Farmington. On safe working conditions, access to affordable healthcare, protection of quality public services, and resources for local schools, Mike has a real track record. That’s why we’re proud to stand with him once again,” said Melodie Peters, president of AFT Connecticut, which represents over 29,000 teachers and public schools’ support staff, nurses and healthcare workers, higher education faculty, and state and municipal employees.

Demicco is pleased to accept the CEA and AFT endorsements and vowed to fight to improve education to help children grow intellectually and gain the skills to be successful and productive citizens in Connecticut’s 21st century economy.
