Store Employees Pepper Sprayed During Attempted Theft In Farmington: Police

Farmington police seek two female suspects after pepper spray was used during a theft attempt at a prominent shopping mall in the area.

FARMINGTON/WEST HARTFORD, CT — Farmington police are investigating a reported larceny at Nordstrom in the Westfarms Mall in which two suspects allegedly used what is believed to be pepper spray on store employees Monday night.

Police said officers responded to the store at about 8 p.m. on May 11 after receiving a report of a theft involving two women at the mall, which is located in both Farmington and West Hartford.

According to the Farmington Police Department, the suspects attempted to steal merchandise from the store.

During the incident, the women allegedly discharged what is believed to be pepper spray at two loss prevention associates who were following them out of the store.

The suspects were described as two heavier-set women wearing hooded sweatshirts with the hoods pulled over their heads and surgical-style face masks.

Police said the suspects fled in a brown Ford Edge displaying Connecticut registration plates believed to be BL06621, which investigators said were being misused.

The investigation remains active, police said.
