Symetra Farmington Employees Give Back During Week of Service

"This was our biggest Symetra Week of Service effort yet—a true reflection of our employees' volunteer spirit."—Symetra CEO Margaret Meister

Opting to turn the volunteer volume up to “10,” Symetra set out to make a big impact in communities across its office footprint as the national provider of employee benefits, annuities and life insurance celebrated the 10th anniversary of Symetra Week of Service earlier this month.

More than 20 Symetra employees from the company's Farmington office took a break from their workday to give back to the community — contributing 74 volunteer hours to several local nonprofit organizations.

Teams of volunteers sorted, labeled and packed items at Food Share; helped prep Camp Courant for summer activities; cleared trails and helped beautify Northwest Park; and grabbed a paintbrush, rake or garden clippers on behalf of Farmington Social Services.

“This was our biggest Symetra Week of Service effort yet — a true reflection of our employees’ volunteer spirit and a genuine expression of our ‘Swift to Serve’ core value,” said Ms. Meister. “As a company, Symetra is committed to making a positive impact in our communities. As individuals, our employees are empowered to give back to the causes and organizations that matter to them personally through hands-on service opportunities like this much-anticipated annual program.”

Symetra Week of Service began in 2009 with 130 employees in the company's Bellevue, Washington headquarters volunteering at seven Puget Sound-area projects. For 2018's Week of Service, 800 Symetra employees volunteered at 83 projects across the country on behalf of 57 nonprofit organizations. Since the program's inception, Symetra employees have contributed more than 14,000 Week of Service hours.
