Have you been on a hike lately or simply out enjoying nature in town? We have several wonderful properties that are kid and hiker friendly near you!
Great spots to walk include: a pleasant loop around the Cowles parcel on Meadow Road, the trail on the Carey parcel on Mountain Spring Road, the Bancroft Memorial parcel off Prattling Pond Road (parking across the street at the commuter lot), which is also part of the Metacomet Trail .
There is history and hiking around the Canal Aqueduct parcel, opposite Aqueduct Lane, along the Farmington River, and more history & local color at the William Wadsworth Memorial parcel, the home of Will Warren & his 'den', on Rattlesnake Mountain, just east of the intersection of Pinnacle Road and Reservoir Road. This site also has an amazing view from the summit!
The Land Trust also has a handicapped accessible fishing pier and a great view of the Farmington River in Unionville, just upstream from the Unionville Bridge. A short walk from the cul-de-sac on Railroad Avenue will bring you to the pier on the right side of the trail.
So get out there! We'd love to see your photos and hear your stories. Please share them with us and your friends here in town!
