Tax Deferment Program Approved By Farmington Town Council
A tax deferment program for taxpayers and businesses adversely impacted by the new coronavirus pandemic has been approved by the council.

FARMINGTON, CT — Farmington residents and business owners may get some relief on paying taxes with the approval of a three-month tax deferral program by the town council.
On Tuesday, the council unanimously approved a tax deferment program for taxpayers and
businesses adversely impacted by the new coronavirus pandemic. Under this program, eligible taxpayers, businesses, nonprofits and residents can obtain a deferment of three months on any taxes on real property, personal property or motor vehicles, sewer and waste charges and
assessments that are levied between April 1, 2020 and July 1, 2020.

For example, payment on taxes normally due on July 1, 2020, can be deferred until Oct. 1, 2020 without penalty.
Eligible taxpayers, businesses, nonprofits and residents are those that attest to, or document to the Town of Farmington, that they have experienced significant adverse economic impact due to coronavirus and/or those that document they are providing relief to those significantly negatively affected by the pandemic.

“This deferment program is the best way to assist Farmington residents and taxpayers who have been financially affected by COVID-19,” Town Council Chair C.J. Thomas said.
