Tea Is Definitely Not 'Hot Brown Water': Farmington Library Program
The Farmington Public Library next week is hosting a well-known tea expert for a special, relaxing program on the therapeutic drink.
FARMINGTON, CT— For many of us, tea is something you dump out of a Keurig or pour when you're sick.
But for Connecticut tea expert Philip Parda, tea is a way of life, a means to soothe the mind and body and its the basis of his acclaimed Savvy Tea Gourmet tea house in Madison.
Parda's message of "Improving lives with tea .. one sip at a time," will be brought to Farmington on Thursday, Feb. 9, with the Farmington Public Library's "The Art & Pleasure of Artisan Teas."

The program is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and it will take place in the main library's Jay Johnston Community Room, 6 Monteith Drive.
At the event, Parda — who regularly discusses his passion for teas — will discuss the health benefits and history behind artisan teas. Guests will also be able to sample varieties of the pleasurable drink.

In Parda's world, his beloved drink is not the same as the one the fictional Ted Lasso, the well-known American soccer coach in England, calls "hot brown water."
Rather, it is a destination drink with an unlimited variety of flavors and benefits.
"My love affair with tea started in the 70s when I first became more aware of green tea and its reputed health benefits," Parda writes on his tea house's website.
"My infatuation with tea quickly moved from health interest to pleasure and on to a passionate dedication."
Space is limited, so registration for the Farmington event is required, with registration closing the day of the forum.
