Peppe's Nissan was parked directly in front of the Kenworth.
Both drivers were outside their vehicles when a 2016 Ram ProMaster driven by Morrone was traveling in the highway's right lane, police said.

Peppe, 34, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken by ambulance to UConn Health, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Bazukin suffered injuries described as minor and was transported to Hartford Hospital.
Morrone also sustained suspected minor injuries and was treated at the scene, according to state police.
Two children, both 8 years old at the time, were passengers in Peppe's Nissan, according to the report. Police listed both as having no apparent injuries.
The three vehicles were towed from the scene.
