Troop 68 Scouts Take Sailing Adventure

Eight scouts, four adults spent a week sailing in the Bahamas.

On Friday, July 29 Boy Scouts from Farmington's Troop 68 returned from a week long sailing trip in the Bahamas.  Eight scouts and four adult leaders participated in a week long sailing adventure at the BSA Bahamas Sea Base in Marsh Harbor on the Island of Abaco in the Bahamas.

The scouts and leaders spent the week living together on the 43’ ketch Kiskedee along with the Captain, her husband and son.  The scouts were the working crew and sailed everyday in the Abaco Sea learning sailing techniques, snorkeling on the many reefs and exploring the islands.  Upon their return to port the group received an Excellent Rating from the Captain and the Captain’s Award for their seamanship and Scout spirit.  They also earned the BSA Snorkeling Certification.

Troop 68 has 30 members ranging in age from 11 to 17.  The high-adventure trip was restricted to teens 14 and older.  The Scouts making the trip were Dan Haugh, Dan Hardiman, Sean Kraut, Patrick Morrissey, Spencer Pelham, Will Sanford, Cordell Szot and Sam Weber.  The adults were Doug Pelham, Ted Sanford, Anthony Szot and John Weber.
