FARMINGTON, CT — A tractor-trailer fire in Farmington is causing massive traffic headaches for Interstate 84 motorists, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The DOT reports the fire happened on I-84 westbound between exits 37 and 36, resulting in the left and center lanes being closed.

Connecticut State Police, however, reports all three lanes are closed and traffic is only getting by on the shoulder, leading to large backups, with the eastbound lane experiencing the closure of the left lane.

While the state still calls it a tractor-trailer incident, reports from the scene, as well as reported photographs, appear to show a large, overturned dump truck.

It happened at about 2:05 p.m. and, as of 3:32 p.m., the incident was still not cleared and it was "unknown" when it would be.

State police are urging motorist to avoid the area and seek other routes.
