Tunxis Hose Carnival Returns To Unionville With Rides, Fireworks And Fireman's Parade

The Tunxis Hose Co. carnival returns to Unionville July 9-11 with rides, fireworks, live music, and a Fireman's Parade.

FARMINGTON, CT — One of Unionville's longest-running summer traditions returns this week as the Tunxis Hose Company No. 1 Annual Carnival brings three days of rides, games, food, live entertainment and family activities to Farmington.

The carnival runs July 9-11 at the Tunxis Hose Company grounds in Unionville.

Founded in 1893, Tunxis Hose Company No. 1 has served the community for 133 years.

Its annual carnival traces its roots to 1911, when the event was known as "Field Day" and featured a parade, competitions and community gatherings.

This year's schedule includes:

  • Thursday, July 9: Family Night with discounted ride bracelets and live music by Tribulations beginning at 6 p.m.
  • Friday, July 10: Carnival opens at 6 p.m., followed by a 9:30 p.m. fireworks display.
  • Saturday, July 11: The annual Fireman's Parade steps off at 6 p.m., with the carnival continuing after the parade concludes.

In addition to amusement rides and midway games, visitors can enjoy carnival food, including the event's well-known fried dough served with "Uncle Bill's" secret sauce.

Organizers said the carnival now accepts credit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay for purchases.

Because of the weather forecast, organizers said some activities may be subject to change.
