Tunxis Hose Celebrates Mother's Day With Family Breakfast
Event supported by locals and fire brethren.
Hundreds of mothers, grandmothers and great-grandmothers were treated to a delicious Mother's Day breakfast prepared and served by the volunteers at Sunday morning.
This is the first year the Tunxis Hose spring breakfast has been held on Mother’s Day. Captain Larry Sanderson, who organized the breakfast, appreciated the great attendance.
“We normally hold the event the Sunday after Easter, but because Easter fell so late this year, we decided to try Mother’s Day. Thankfully, it was a good decision. It is a resounding success and we’d like to thank everyone who came out to support us for our first annual Mother's Day Breakfast” he said.

In addition to the many Farmington and Unionville families who came out for the breakfast, fire volunteers from other towns came as well to show their support.
“Volunteers came from Plainville and Burlington in their fire trucks so they could respond if a call came,” Sanderson explained. “It’s unbelievable how much local departments do to support one another.”

Besides unlimited eggs cooked to order, French toast, home fries, sausage and ham, orange juice, coffee and milk, moms were each given a pink carnation.
Unionville resident Michelle Dionne was celebrating both Mother’s Day and her birthday at the breakfast, with three of her four children.
“This is the best day ever," she said. "I’m with my family and the best thing I could decide to do today is to support Tunxis Hose.”
Rob Comer, a Tunxis Hose volunteer for the past two years, brought his mother, Karin and father, Martin to the event.
“I usually work in the yard on Mother’s Day, so this is wonderful,” she said. “No dishes and we get to support the fire department.”
The department’s next fundraiser will be their 27th Annual Golf Tournament, which will be held at Farmington Woods on Saturday June 4, starting at 2 p.m. A brochure and registration form can be viewed online at: Golf. Payment and registration form needs to be returned by May 21 to:
