Dear Editor:
I am writing to urge all Farmington voters to seize an opportunity to elect an excellent public servant, Peter Mastrobattista. Peter is running for the Town Council in the First District and it would be difficult to find a more qualified candidate.

Peter grew up in Farmington and is a Farmington High School graduate. He lives in the center of Town with his wife Laura and two daughters. Peter has run a family manufacturing business for the last 25 years and has served the community for many years on the Volunteer Fire Department and is past Assistant Chief. Peter also currently serves on our Town Plan and Zoning Commission where I have been able to see him in action on a variety of matters of importance to the community.
During the time Peter was the Assistant Chief of the Farmington Center Fire Company he drafted its operating budget and proposed capital expenditures for new equipment. An understanding of the Fire Department’s and Town’s budgets was of vital importance in getting this important work done. Working with a variety of people at all levels of Town government as well as outside vendors is something Peter is ready to do on the Town Council with no on-the-job training required.

I have seen firsthand Peter’s excellent work on the Town Plan and Zoning Commission where I serve as the Chairman. Peter’s depth of knowledge of the Town as a lifelong resident, his business acumen, his common sense and sense of fair play have made him an important member of the commission who has done excellent work for the Town. I write this letter with some sadness as I will miss Peter’s good counsel on the Commission, but envy the Town Council for obtaining his service.
