Families can search for hidden treasure across town each week this summer through a free Farmington Community Chest program.

FARMINGTON, CT — Families in Farmington will have a new reason to get outdoors this summer as Farmington Community Chest has launched a free weekly treasure hunt designed to encourage exploration and community engagement.
It began on Monday, July 13, and a real treasure chest will be hidden somewhere in Farmington each week for six weeks over the summer.
Clues will be released on social media throughout the week, inviting parents and caregivers to help children search for the hidden prize.

"This is really about creating simple, memorable summer experiences for families," Farmington Community Chest President Chris Andrews said in a statement. "We wanted to create something that feels a little magical and whimsical, kids searching for treasure, families exploring town, and the community coming together around something fun and positive."
Each weekly winner will receive that week's prize and earn entries toward an end-of-summer grand prize drawing.
Organizers said all participants will also be invited to attend a community celebration at the conclusion of the program.
The treasure chests will be hosted by participating Farmington businesses, nonprofits and community organizations.
Some host locations may also offer optional family-friendly activities, promotions, or programs during the week they serve as the featured treasure hunt location.
Participation is free and open to all families.
Founded in 1931, the Farmington Community Chest is a volunteer-led nonprofit organization that supports the health, educational opportunities, and quality of life of Farmington residents through grants, partnerships, and community initiatives.
