Athletics

Earlier this month, three members of the Porter's varsity soccer team were selected for the Connecticut All-State Award for the 2017 season.

Senior Maddie D. and sophomores Laura G. and Kyla G.were selected for their consistent athletic displays during this season. Each player chosen for the Connecticut All-State Award was voted on by local high school coaches.

Maddie D., center back, led the Porter's varsity soccer team to 15 shutout games; Laura G., a midfielder, scored 12 goals with 15 assists for the 2017 season; and Kyla G., a right wing, scored 12 goals with 4 assists. The team finished the season with a record of 15-2-5.

"Maddie receives the award for the first time in her senior year and has definitely been an unsung hero of the team," shares Head Coach Avi Dubnov. "Laura contributed double figures for goals and assists from center midfield for the second year in a row. And Kyla proved her goal scoring talents once again with some eye catching performances along the way."

The Porter's soccer program now has had seven athletes awarded with All-State titles in the last two seasons. The Connecticut All-State Award Banquet will be held on January 21 at The Aqua Turf in Plantsville.
