Varsity Soccer vs. Wilbraham and Monson: W 5-0
Recap: On 10/10 Porter's varsity soccer made it 10 wins in a row and 10 shut outs for the season at Wilbraham and Monson Academy. On a nice fall evening the girls put in a professional display against 2014's league champions. Gabby Lowe '19 scored after the away team hit the bar to put the score at 1-0 only a few minutes into the game. Midway through the first half Laura Gouvin '20 dribbled into the oppositions area, beating two defenders before scoring off of the underside of the cross bar. Five minutes before half time Emma Updegrave '17 scored her first goal of the season after she received a pass from Cami Beath '17,slotting the ball across the keeper to make it 3-0 to the girls in green. Two more goals were added in the second half. Kyla Gallagher '20 drove through the middle of the WMA center backs and finished well into the bottom corner of the goal. With only a few minutes remaining Gouvin got her second of the game from the corner of the box as she beat the keeper from 20 yards and completed the scoring. Claire Beath '17 showed how effective she is in 1 v 1 defensive situations, Olivia Grommers '18 made some excellent forward runs and Kyra Bukowski '18 and Evelyn Lewis '18 linked up well on the left flank.

Varsity Field Hockey vs. Canterbury: L 1-5

Varsity Soccer vs. Taft: T 1-1
Recap: Porter's soccer traveled to Taft on Wednesday afternoon to play a hard working and organized opponent that had a few very dangerous players. The first 15 minutes the hosts dictated the tempo; the Porter's players could not get hold of the ball and looked to play on the counter attack each time. The shape of the midfield was exposed and it took the varsity group too long to adapt to the two forwards they were playing against that had a lot of pace. Just over half way through the first half Cami Beath '17 broke up play and released Kyla Gallagher '20 who crossed the ball into the box where Sydni Scott '18 took a touch as she turned and then volleyed the ball into the corner putting the visitors 1-0 up. The goal came against the run of play and as the half went on Katie Konin '19 added more composure in the middle and Mackenzie Reynolds '19 nullified the threat out wide. The second half saw a better performance from Porter's soccer, as the midfielders were more connected and not being bypassed. Mackenzie Kievman '18 worked hard to make runs in the final third and broke up a lot of play and Maddie Duchesneau '18 continued to organize and keep the girls focused. With 15 minutes remaining Taft hit the crossbar and one of their forwards was quickest to react to tie the game and score on Porter's for the first time this season. The girls did not give up or let that affect them and Laura Gouvin '20 and Sydni Scott (on separate occasions) put in some dangerous balls that were cleared in the six-yard box. The game finished at 1-1, and although Porter's were not at their best in the first half they will look back at this result as one point gained rather than two points lost.
