Varsity Soccer vs. Hopkins: W 2-0
Recap: Porter's started the game by moving the ball around well in periods and once they adjusted to Hopkins dangerous center midfielder they began to find rhythm in between the lines and out wide. Early on in the game, Carlyn Kosienski '19 swung in a cross that was not cleared and Olivia Grommers '18 was in the right place at the right time to slam the ball home for her second goal of the season. Defensively Porter's stayed resilient, this set the platform for the rest of the game. A second goal was added right before half time as Grommers '18 and Sydni Scott '18 combined to release Kayleen Procanik '19 who delivered a nice cross to Kosienski '19 who made the run across the defenders to finish first time into the bottom corner. Hopkins had a more determined look about them in the second half and although they worked hard they did not create many clear chances as Porter's stood firm to win 2-0 and record their 5th shut out in a row. Mackenzie Kievman '18, Gabby Owens '19, Bryn Mathews '18 and Lauren Schramm '20 were very good the whole game and Katie Konin '19, Laura Gouvin '20, Grommers '18 and Natalie Godoy '21 did a good job of balancing their work rate with controlling the movement of the ball.

Recap: Porter's had a great game against Choate on Wednesday at our annual Play 4 the Cure event. Gabrielle Brewer '19 and Gabby Aucello '19 both scored beautiful goals in the first half, both assisted by Clare Porter '19. Porter's defense put up a good fight against numerous corners, but Choate's speed and precision on offense were impressive. Goalkeeper Kami Vigilant did great work in the cage, and she had her second attempt at a penalty stroke this season. In the end, Porter's showed tremendous commitment, teamwork, and heart.
Varsity Soccer vs. Berkshire: W 5-0
Recap: Porter's had control of a lot of the game although Berkshire's #10 had a tremendous pass completion rate in the first half and was impressive throughout. Carlyn Kosienski '19 opened the scoring when Kayleen Procanik '19 created space on the right wing and sent in an inviting ball for Kosiesnki '19 to finish (the second time that combination worked in the last two games). The second goal of the game came after freshman Sam Halligan sent in a driven corner and it fell to Gabby Owens '19 who made no mistake from 6 yards out. Evelyn Lewis '18 and Sydni Scott '18 came close to adding to the score line in the first half.12 minutes into the second half Natalie Godoy '21 was brought down 25 yards from goal and Halligan '21 sent a free kick into the top left-hand corner of the goal to make it 3-0 to the girls in green. With 10 minutes remaining Mackenzie Kievman '18 played a ball to Laura Gouvin '20 who cut in on her left and made it 4-0 from 20 yards. Right at the end of the game, Olivia Grommers '18 played a clever pass that Lewis '18 ran onto to finish for her second of the season.

Varsity Cross Country @ Shaler Invitational: 7th Place
Recap: Porter's cross country went back to Williston Northampton on Saturday to race in the Shaler Invitational. The team placed 7th out of 11 teams. The team ran quite well and many of the runners achieved their personal best time for the season. Alexandra Poole '20 had another great race and placed 5th overall.
Varsity Field Hockey vs. Ethel Walker: L 1-5
Varsity Soccer vs. Ethel Walker: T 1-1
Recap: With Porter's front three forwards out of the game it gave a platform for other attacking players to take the initiative and stake a claim in the team. A few early chances came and went for the home team and Walker's did a good job of keeping their shape and fighting for every ball. The best two chances of the first half fell for Laura Gouvin '20 who hit a 20-yard shot that hit the underside of the crossbar and bounced away and Walker's Veronica Garcia who hit a clean shot from the same distance that narrowly missed the post. Porter's began to dominate the second half but could not find the back of the net, as the opponents were resilient in their defending and goalkeeping. Walker's took the lead when Garcia hit an unstoppable half-volley from 22 yards that dipped into the far corner, Porter's hit back with 20 minutes remaining when freshman Natalie Godoy turned from 20+ yards out and hit the roof of the net with a powerful drive. The girls in green hit the post, had a goal-bound effort cleared off of the line and a free header from 6 yards that should have won them the game, sometimes it is just not your day.
