Varsity Soccer vs Hotchkiss: W 2-1
Recap: A narrow and tightly contested founders league game was played at Hotchkiss on a warm Wednesday afternoon. Hotchkiss (8-3-2) showed a lot of desire and stuck to their roles and responsibilities from start to finish making it difficult for Porter's to find any rhythm in their game. With only 10 minutes on the clock Hotchkiss struck a ball from 20 yards that ended up in the top corner giving them a lead and adding more belief for the home team. The first half was scrappy and a little frantic but the girls in green grew into the game and started combining creating a few entries into their defensive third. Carlyn Kosienski '19 took the ball on her left foot but her shot hit the underside of the crossbar and bounced out to safety. Mackenzie Kievman '18 and Emily Wogelius '17 played a few dangerous diagonal passes but the Hotchkiss defense stood firm. With 8 minutes remaining in the half Olivia Grommers '18 played a first time ball from the left wing, which found its way to Kyla Gallagher '20 who made no mistake inside the 6-yard box. The second half saw Porter's take a little more control but the girls were still aware of the threat on the counter attack. After a fantastic challenge from Claire Beath '17 the Varsity team changed their shape and it was rewarded with a chance in the Hotchkiss area, after a bit of chaos Gallagher released a shot that hit a Hotchkiss defender on the arm winning a PK. Calm as ever, Cami Beath '17 slotted the ball home with only 5 minutes remaining giving the team the 2-1 win and 15th victory of the season.

Varsity Field Hockey vs. Pomfret: W 3-1
Recap: Porter's Field Hockey played a fantastic game between the 25-yard lines today home at Oaklea field. Annie Buenaventura '17 was essential in the backfield, meanwhile Alice Robins '17 was critical with her speedy breakaways. Elizabeth Muller '19 continued her consistent and aggressive work in the goal cage. Most notably, however, Adi Jalinskas '18 was invincible with her speed, reflexes, and tenacity in the offensive circle. She scored two beautiful goals in the second half. Abby O'Connell '17 gets credit for posting a goal as well. Each goal was earned by the entire team, as our smart and unified movement up the field was some of the best play yet this season.
Varsity Soccer vs. Choate: W 1-0
Recap: Choate, No.1 in WWNEPSSA were the visitors to No.2 in WWNEPPSA Porter's on Saturday afternoon. With a very large crowd (creating a fantastic atmosphere) the game did not disappoint. Both teams showed a committed display and rarely gave anyone time on the ball or space to think, the tempo of the game was at a very high level. In what was an even first half it was a Naya Lipkens '18 who made a tremendous fingertip save that preserved the 0-0 with 50 seconds left in the first half. The second half showed why both teams rarely conceded a goal and as the clock started to wind down it was obvious that the home team would be applauded for their desire and pride for their jersey and that the game would end as a tie........but the script had already been written. With a minute remaining Co-Captain Sam Houle '17 put in a slide challenge that will stay in the memory of many, and with the ball falling to a girl in green the tired Choate midfielder gave a free kick away. With 40 seconds left on the clock Carlyn Kosienski '19 delivered a beautiful free kick that Sydni Scott '18 headed into the roof of the net beating her man marker. That goal meant that Porter's Varsity Soccer won the founders league for the first time in the schools history and putting Porter's Soccer on 16-0-2 record for the season.
