Varsity Field Hockey vs. Berkshire: L 1-5
Recap: Porter's lost to Berkshire on their home turf yesterday, but as usual, the team played with passion and precision. The coaches were very impressed with the offensive passing. In particular, the tenacity in the circle made it an exciting game to watch. Captain Adi Jalinskas '18 had several shots on goal and a handful of amazing breakaways. Her speed, strength, and athleticism is such an asset to the team. One of her breakaways allowed Clare Porter '19, a player of the game, to get a decisive shot in the goal at the top of the second half. Porter '19 was particularly smart in cutting into the circle and anticipating initial shots on goal.

Varsity Soccer vs. MacDuffie: W 1-0
Recap: The home team settled into the game and possessed the ball a little bit better than the opponents, however, were too eager to go forward which resulted in too many transitional moments. MacDuffie did a good job of being patient (without the ball) and waiting for a mistake before they would counter and try to get numbers into dangerous positions in Porter's defensive third. Both teams had a few chances with Carlyn Kosienski '19 narrowly putting a free kick over the bar and Sydni Scott '18 firing over from the edge of the 18. With less than ten minutes before the end of the half Laura Gouvin '20 spotted Kayleen Procanik '19 making an intelligent run behind the left back who then played an inviting ball to Scott '18 who lost her marker and then managed to squeeze the ball into the back of the net from a tight angle. The girls in green edged the second half and Kosienski had a point-blank shot saved from 8 yards out after good work from Scott '18. Natalie Godoy '21 managed to turn her defender well in the later stages but narrowly put the ball wide and then shortly after MacDuffie hit the cross bar from an effort on the left flank.

Recap: The Porter's cross country team traveled to Choate on Saturday to race in the NEPSTA Championships. Although the team placed last out of 13 teams, the all the runners each had an excellent race. Because she was in the top 20, she is invited to the NEPSTA All-Star Cross Country Meet at St. Mark's School next Saturday, November 18.
Varsity Field Hockey vs. Millbrook: L 1-2
Recap: Porter's did their best in frigid conditions away in NY on Saturday. Although the girls definitely had bus legs and a slow start, they rallied at the top of the second half when Clare Porter '19 had an amazing breakaway and shot to the lower left corner of the goal cage. The defense improved their strategy too, proving to be resilient and coachable throughout the second half. Goalkeeper Kami Vigilant '18 played a great final game, shutting out the second half and posting a total of over 16 saves.
