Wednesday, December 6

Varsity Basketball vs. Hotchkiss: W 33-24

Recap: Porter’s traveled to Hotchkiss to grab their first win of the season beating their Founder’s League opponent 33-24. Porter’s struggled from the field shooting 21% (12-56) but their defensive pressure forced 25 turnovers which was enough to get the job done. Leading the team was Sophomore Callie Godfrey with 11 points, 12 rebounds, 7 steals, 2 blocks and 2 rebounds.

Also contributing in the W was Ana Bartkiewicz ’20 (10 points, 8 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 blocks), Kyla Gallagher ’20 (6 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assist, 3 steals), Sarah Zukowski (4 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist), Delaney Nwachukwu ’20 (2 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 4 steals, 10 blocks,) Grace Bergin ‘19 (2 rebounds), D'Vine Straughter '21 (4 rebounds). Julia Teti ’19 did a great job coming off the bench and giving solid minutes.

Porter’s dominated the boards outrebounding Hotchkiss 53-39 (19 offensive, 34 defensive).

Varsity Squash vs. Westminster: L 0-7

Recap: Porter's faced powerful, smart opponents at Westminster. Grateful for the chance to play tough competitors, the Porter's team kept their focus on personal goals and improvement. Athletes came off the courts having benefitted from the challenge, and they are looking forward to building on those challenges in matches to come. Lydia Gambacini '19 (#3) and Gaelen Carroll '18 (#7) each took a game in their matches, and Shushu Fang '18 (#4), Anya Lord '19 (#5), Maia Leibowitz '19 (#8) all found opportunities to make their opponents work extra hard in close games.

Varsity Swimming & Diving: L 84-101

Recap: The Porter's swimmers and divers had their second meet of the season against Loomis Chaffee. Even though Porter's did not have all their swimmers competing they dug deep and Porter's started off the meet with the 200 Medley Relay of A. Metcalfe '19, M. Chow '20, M. Lee, '19 and M. Beaule '21 taking 1st place. Beaule '20 took home 2nd in the 200 Free. Lee '19 took home 1st in the 100 Fly and M. Menendez '18 had a strong finish for 3rd. Chow '19 took 2nd in the 100 Free and achieved a lifetime best and 1st in the 100 Breast. Beaule '21 captured 1st in the 500 Free. Metcalfe '19 had a great finish in the 100 Back to take 1st place. The 400 Free Relay of Beaule '21, M. Lee '19, Metcalfe '19 and Chow '20 ended the meet with an exciting race to take 1st. The divers did a fantastic job. M. Mathew '18 took home 1st while E. Warner '20 placed 2nd.

Friday, December 8

Varsity Basketball vs. Kent: W 69-32

Recap: Porter’s took home their second Founders League win of the season beating Kent 69-32. Porter’s played great team basketball with 4 players scoring in double digits.

Porter’s came out strong taking a 40-11 lead going into the locker room. The team shot 46% from the floor and took advantage of Kent’s turnovers turning them into 27 points.

Porter’s finished the game with 56 rebounds, 19 assist, 17 steals and 9 blocks. The team now improves to 2-0.
