Varsity Squash vs. Choate: L 0-7

Recap: Porter's faced a deep and strong Choate team in Wallingford on a Monday evening. The Porter's players continue to learn from opportunities to play powerful, strategic opponents. Sarah Wagner '20 was able to take one game off her opponent at #7. Simrat Khalsa '19 also took a game in her exhibition match.

Wednesday, February 14

Varsity Basketball vs. Hopkins: W 45-32

Recap: Porter’s was back on their home court Wednesday afternoon to take on Hopkins. Porter’s took the lead early and didn’t look back beating Hopkins 45-32. The team won the battle on the boards and took advantage of second-chance opportunities.

Leading the team was Ana Bartkiewicz ’20 with 10 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assist. Also contributing was Callie Godfrey ’20 (8 points, 12 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals), Delaney Nwachukwu ’20 (8 points, 6 rebounds, 7 blocks), Julia Teti ’19 (6 points, 1 assist, 2 steals), Kyla Gallagher ’20 (5 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals), Lila Conners ’20 (4 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assist, 2 steals, 1 block), Sarah Zukowoski ’19 (2 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist) and D’Vine Straughter ’21 (2 points, 1 rebound, 1 block).

Varsity Squash vs. Canterbury: W 7-0
Varsity Squash vs. Hopkins: W 7-0
Recap: The Porter's squad traveled to Hopkins to play a tri-match against Canterbury and Hopkins, both make-up matches from earlier cancellations. While Porter's beat Canterbury in each match, there were some great points, fun rallies, and exciting games on many courts.

Shushu Fang '18 (#3) played skillful squash in her match against Yvonne Chen. After winning the first two games, Shushu lost two close games in a row despite excellent footwork and smart placement. In the fifth, Shushu dug into her reserves, relying on her serve strength and drives, and she won the game 11-2.

Friday, February 16
Varsity Basketball vs. Suffield: L 39-45
Recap: Porter’s took on a tough, talented Suffield team Friday night. The team came out ready to play and matched Suffield’s energy going into the half up 19-17. It was a back and forth battle in the second half coming down to the last minute. Porter’s was down 3 and had an opportunity to cut the lead to 1 but turned the ball over. The team shot 31% from the field, grabbed 41 rebounds and had 18 points off of turnovers.

Leading the team both with 8 points was Kyla Gallagher ’20 (4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal) and Callie Godfrey ’20 (8 rebounds, 1 assist, 5 steals, 1 block). Also chipping in was Lila Conners’20 (6 points), Delaney Nwachukwu '20 (6 points, 11 rebounds, 4 blocks), Sarah Zukowski ’20 (6 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist) and Ana Bartkiewicz ’20 (5 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assist, 1 steal).

Saturday, February 17
Varsity Squash vs. Westover: W 6-1
Recap: Playing smart, steady squash, each player tapped into some of their personal best practices. Lydia Gambacini '19 (#2) played the closest match of the afternoon. Struggling to find her rhythm in the first two games, she lost the first game 11-13 and gave up a lead in the second game, losing 8-11. Determined to turn things around, she played smarter and made less unforced errors in the third and fourth, winning 11-7, 11-8. In the fifth game, Lydia eliminated any suspense for the spectators, taking the game 11-0.

7. Sarah Wagner defeated Eliza Paolucci 11-4, 11-4, 11-5

Varsity Swimming & Diving vs. Hopkins: W 56-46
Varsity Swimming & Diving vs. Westminster: W 75-27
Recap: Porter's School Varsity Swimming & Diving Team ended their dual meet season with two wins against Hopkins and Westminster. All the members stepped it up for the final dual meets and it paid off.

Both 200 Medley Relays scored. The team of Avery Metcalfe '19, Marissa Chow '20, Moira Lee '20and Maddie Beuale '21 took first while teammates Emma Donlan '18, Annie Wertheimer '18, Maggie Menendez '18 and Hannah Brookes '18 took home third.

Beaule '21 took home second in the 200 Free and Chow '20 and Lee '19 took home first and second in the 200 IM. Brookes '18 took second in the 50 Free while teammate Lee '19 won the 100 Butterfly. Chow '20 and Metcalfe '19 went first and third in the 100 Free while Beaule '21 captured first in the 500 Free. The 200 Free relay of Menendez '18, Wertheimer '18, Spero '18 and Brookes '18 came away with second place. Metcalfe '19 took second in the 100 Back. To end the meet the 400 Freestyle Relay of Beaule '21, Lee '19, Metcalfe '19 and Chow '20 took home first place.

In Diving Ella Warner took first place and broke the Porter's Varsity Diving Record with a 215.50.
