Monday, February 13

Varsity Basketball vs. Cheshire Academy: W 54-45

Recap: Porter’s snaps a two-game losing streak with a win over Cheshire Academy (56-45). Down 6 going into the second half Porter’s focused on pushing the ball up the court and capitalizing on Cheshire’s turnovers. Late in the second half, Porter’s started to pull away and Cheshire got into some foul trouble allowing Porter’s to secure the W.

Leading the way for Porter’s was freshman Ana Bartkiewicz with her first double, double of the season. Bartkiewicz had 15 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assist.

Also chipping in for Porter’s were Callie Godfrey ’20 (13 points, 14 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 assist, 2 blocks), Lila Conners ’20 (9 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assist, 1 steal), Kyla Gallagher ’20 (8 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal), Evie Perez ’17 (6 points, 5 rebounds, 1 block), Delaney Nwachukwu ’20 (5 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 assist, 1 block).

Porter’s dominated the boards out rebounding Cheshire 62 (29 offensive/33 defensive) to 40. Porter’s shot 29% from the floor (20-70) and 36% from behind the arc (5/14). Porter’s improves to 15-6 and is back on the road again Wednesday to take on Hopkins.

Wednesday, February 15

Varsity Basketball vs. Hopkins: W 56-36

Recap: After going down 13-1 against Hopkins Porter’s battled back to take home the victory (56-36). Porter’s dominated the boards out rebounding Hopkins 61 (30 offensive/31 defensive) to 40. Porter’s did a great job of pushing the ball up the floor and setting the tempo after a slow start.

Leading Porter’s was senior Evie Perez with 12 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 assist. Perez shot well from the line going 70% (7-10).

Also contributing were Delaney Nwachukwu ’20 (12 points, 17 rebounds, 4 steals, 4 blocks), Callie Godfrey ’20 (11 points, 14 rebounds, 4 steals, 4 blocks), Lila Conners ’20 (11 points, 8 rebounds, 5 steals, 3 assist), Ana Bartkiewicz ’20 (4 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assist), Emily Wogelius ’17 (2 points), Maya Silva-Thompson ’17 (2 points, 2 rebounds) and Julia Harrell ’17 (2 points).

Porter’s capitalized on Hopkins turnovers scoring 19 points and 2nd chance opportunities (15 points). The team improves to 16-5 and will take on Suffield Academy Friday evening.

Friday, February 17

Varsity Basketball vs. Suffield Academy: L 46-59

Recap: Porter’s falls to Suffield Academy Friday night 46-59. Porter’s got out hustled giving up 14 fast-break points, 12 points off of turnovers and getting out-rebounded 46-51. Porter’s struggled with Suffield’s 3-2 zone shooting only 28% (16-58) from the field and 19% (4-24) from behind the arc.
Leading Porter’s was Evie Perez ’17 who scored her 1,000 point, one of only 3 athletes in Porter’s history to do so. Perez finished the night with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals.

Also chipping in were Callie Godfrey ’20 (11 points, 4 rebounds, 2 blocks, 1 steal, 1 assist), Delaney Nwachukwu ’20 (10 points, 11 rebounds, 2 blocks, 2 assist), Kyla Gallagher ’20 (7 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assist, 2 steals, 2 blocks), Ana Bartkiewicz ’20 (1 point, 7 rebounds, 5 assist, 1 steal, 1 block), Juia Teti ’19 (1 rebound), Emily Wogelius ’17 (1 rebound, 1 assist), Lila Conners ’20 (4 rebounds).

With only 3 regular season games left Porter’s takes the road Tuesday, February 21 to take on Taft.

Saturday, February 18

Varsity Squash vs. Westover: W 5-2

Varsity Swimming and Diving vs. Hopkins: L 42-60
Varsity Swimming and Diving vs. Westminster: W 65-37

Recap: Porter's Swim and Dive team came together in a dual meet against Hopkins School and Westminster School. Swimmers proved strong with best times in several events. Avery Metcalfe '19 beat Hopkins in the 200 Free earning a season best, Marissa Chow '20 and Alexia Sanabria '20 went season bests in the 200 IM, Maggie Menendez '18 likewise earned a best time in the 100 fly, and Metcalf went a season best of 57.74 in the 100 free.
