Varsity Squash vs. Ethel Walker: L 1-6
Recap: Porter's was happy to host Ethel Walker's for a rescheduled match at home. When Walker's arrived with 12 players, four JV players were happy to step in and play numbers 9-12, so the afternoon was full of fun, competitive squash. Ethel Walker's proved too strong for the top six today, though Shushu Fang '18 (#3) and Anya Lord '19 (#4) each took a game off their opponents and kept up a strong fight in each of their other games. Sarah Wagner '20 (#7) defeated her opponent in three, though her EW opponent pushed her to play smart, focused squash in two close games.

Tuesday, February 20
Varsity Basketball vs. Taft: L 38-51

Recap: Porter's took on Class A and Founders League opponent, Taft, Tuesday afternoon. Knowing that Taft was a strong, talented team Porter's came out ready to play. They did a good job of slowing down Taft's offense and headed into the locker room down by 3 (21-24). In the second half, Porter's struggled to bring the same energy and lost the battle on the boards, allowing Taft to pull away.
Leading the team was Kyla Gallagher '20 with 14 points (5 rebounds, 2 assist, 3 steals) and Callie Godfrey '20 with 13 points (8 rebounds, 2 assist, 1 steal, 3 blocks).
The team finished shooting 36% from the field and grabbed 31 boards.
Wednesday, February 21
Varsity Basketball vs. Williston Northampton: L 36-50
Recap: Porter's was back on the road again Wednesday to take on Class B opponent, Williston. Porter’s continued to struggle to put together a solid 32 minutes and allowed Williston to pull away in the second half. The team struggled on the boards losing the battle 30-45.
Leading the team was junior Sarah Zukowksi with 10 points (4 rebounds, 1 assist, 4 steals). Also chipping in was Ana Bartkiewicz '20 (8 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assist, 1 steal), Callie Godfrey ’20 (6 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals), Julia Teti ’10 (6 points, 1 steal), Kyla Gallagher ’20 (5 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist) and Lila Conners ’20 (1 point, 5 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block).
Varsity Squash vs. Hotchkiss: L 0-7
Recap: While Hotchkiss was just too strong for most of the Porter's players, Sarah Wagner '20 (#7) gave spectators a fun, competitive match to watch. Sarah's skillful strategy and passionate drive helped her to take the first game 11-6. Her opponent came back strong in the second and third, and Sarah lost 3-11 and 7-11. With steadiness and purpose, Sarah took the fourth game 11-7. The fifth game featured a lot of trading points and serves, but ultimately, Hotchkiss got just ahead of Sarah and she lost 8-11.
Friday, February 23
Varsity Basketball vs. Loomis: L 43-56
Recap: Porter's took on Loomis Friday evening in front of a big crowd. Knowing this would be the last game of the season the team came out focused and ready to play against a very talented and deep Loomis team. Porter's battled for the entire 32 minutes but was unable to ever take the lead.
Leading the team with a combined total of 34 points was Ana Bartkiewicz '20 (18 points, 8 rebounds, 1 steal) and Callie Godfrey '20 (16 points, 10 rebounds, 5 steals). Also chipping in was Kyla Gallagher '20 (4 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assist, 3 steals, 1 block), Lila Conners '20 (3 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals) D'Vine Straughter '21 (2 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal).
Porter's played one of their best defensive games of the season forcing 22 turnovers turning that into 22 points. The team shot 32% from the field and had 15 steals, and 8 assist.
Saturday, February 24
Varsity Squash @ New England Championships
Recap: It was a long day of squash at Pomfret School for the Class B New England tournament. Many of the Porter's players were challenged by difficult draws. Gaelen Carroll '18 (#5) won her second match against Pomfret, and Anya Lord '19 (#4) won her second match against Dana Hall. Sarah Wagner '20 (#7) defeated her Loomis-Chaffee opponent in her first match and the #3 seed from Moses Brown in her second match. Wagner will start day two of the tournament against the #2 seed
