Varsity Softball vs. Ethel Walker: L 2-20

Recap: On a beautiful day, Porter's hosted Walker's for a rival game. Despite the injuries on the team, Porter's battled hard, but couldn't contain the Walker's offense. Walker's started with 5 runs in the first, then tacked on 10 the second and third. Porter's was down to our final out in the 3rd (the mercy rule is 15 runs after 3 innings), but D'Vine Straughter '21 got on with a dropped third strike and Jenna Hall '20 hit an inside the park home run to extend the game. Walker's added 5 more runs in the 4th and ended the game after 4 innings in the bottom of the inning.

Varsity Golf vs. Taft: L 0.5-4.5

Varsity Golf vs. Westover: W 4-0

Recap: With the mercury hitting 89 degrees, it was a spectacular day for golf at the Watertown Golf Club. Porter's faced off against Westover, Taft, and Hotchkiss. While Taft and Hotchkiss proved too much to handle again, Porter's showed improvement throughout the day and celebrated a sweep of Westover. Holes 4 to 9 at Watertown present a serious challenge to golfers of all levels. Despite the rolling hills and fast, undulating greens, Porter's players actually shot some of their best scores on the hardest holes.

Varsity Lacrosse vs. Convent of the Sacred Heart: L 3-16

Varsity Tennis vs. Kingswood-Oxford: L 1-8

Recap: It was a nice treat to have the new indoor courts at K-O to play on for our first really hot afternoon of the year. The Porter's players were prepared for a tough fight, and they brought their best efforts. At #2 singles, Roanna Zou '19 earned the only point of the day for Porter's. She had to overcome a slight deficit in the first set against her ambitious opponent, and she battled with consistency and grace to defeat her opponent 7-5, 6-2. Sarah Wagner '20 (#1) played an incredible match against a strong opponent. Wagner '20 took the first set 6-2 but lost the second 2-6. In the tiebreaker, Wagner '20 dug deep into her reserves to return her opponent's precisely-placed and fast-paced shorts with equal skill and mastery. Down 3-6 at one point, Wagner '20 fought back to tie the score and stay in the tiebreaker, but she ultimately lost 8-10. Her efforts were magnificent.
