Varsity Volleyball vs. Choate: L 2-3
Recap: Porter's won two sets by 8 point margins each, but the deciding fifth went goes to Choate. Set 2 saw Porter's top Choate 25-17, taking a set from Choate for the first time since 2010. Once that barrier was breached, Porter's went toe to toe with Choate, losing the third set 26-24 and winning the fourth set 25-17. After over two hours of extremely competitive play, Porter's found itself up 2-1 in Set 5 (tied two sets each), but a missed serve followed by an 8 point service run closed out the match for Choate. 64 digs, 6 blocks, 27 kills and 8 aces were all great indicators of Porter's ability in the match. While both teams had bouts of inconsistency, the quality of the game was one of the highest we've had in our gym in a long time.

Varsity Badminton vs. Hamden High: W 6-1
Recap: Despite many close matches, Porter's badminton achieved a decisive victory over last year's league champion, Hamden High. Providing the edge for Porter's was the outstanding performance of sophomore Roanna Zou '19. Though not feeling well, Zou, playing #1 singles, fought back after dropping the second set, to win 21-9 in the third and decisive game. In doubles, Zou teamed up with Nitya Shah '20, who had earlier won her #2 singles match, to fight back after a first set loss to claim the next two games and the match. In other winning matches, Simrat Khalsa '19 claimed third singles, Damia Rizwan '18 and co-captain Shushu Fang '18 won at thirds doubles, and Michelle Choi '19 and Rose Aydin '18 won their match at forth doubles. Co-captain Ariane Cheng '17 and Simrat Khalsa '19 lost a close match in second doubles, the only Porter's loss of the day.

Varsity Field Hockey vs. Williston Northampton: L 1-4
Recap: Only 2 - 1 at the half, Porter's field hockey did an excellent job adjusting to some new positioning and looking into space. Gaelen Carroll '18 was a brick wall back in the defensive unit. She has become a strong leader in the back, working well with the defensive unit as a whole. As one of the few who stayed in the entire game, her reliability and hustle are what make her stand out. Morgan Mastrangelo '19 did an excellent job on the forward line. Not only did she have some great break aways and cut into open space, but she worked really hard on the re-defend making sure to give all her effort to get back. Her determination during the game stuck out.

Varsity Soccer vs. Kingswood Oxford: W 4-0
Recap: Porter's varsity soccer hosted Kingswood Oxford and was determined to make a statement against last year's regular season league winners. With less than two minutes on the clock co-captain Sam Houle '17 played in a fantastic driven cross that was met first time by Sydni Scott '18 to put the girls in green up 1-0. Porter's made it 2-0 before halftime after Gabby Owens '19 had laid the ball (from a corner) to Laura Gouvin '20, who placed the ball into the bottom corner. During the second half the Porter's central midfield trio held their shape and defended together, creating a platform to go forward and ask questions. Kyla Gallagher '20 had a chance to make it 3 but could not get on the end of a rebound at the back post, instead she kept the ball in and showed composure as she picked out Scott for her second of the game. With 15 minutes remaining Scott completed her hattrick by beating the talented KO keeper to make the final score 4-0. Defenders Claire Beath '17 and Maddie Duchesneau '18 were outstanding and Carlyn Kosienski '19 was a constant threat. This game was another full squad contribution and meant that the Porter's varsity soccer team gained a fourth shut out in a row.

Varsity Volleyball vs. Westover: W 3-0
Recap: A smooth 3-0 victory followed the grueling 2.5 hour match against Choate the night before. On short rest, Porter's came out and defended their home court against an improving Westover program. With the team so tired and bruised from the effort the night before, every active member of the Porter's varsity team was called into action to help carry the load. Porter's finished with 34 digs, 17 assists, 16 kills and 10 aces. Victoria Lima '19 had three digs in her debut, and Zoe Ireland '20 had two digs and one kill in hers.

Varsity Field Hockey vs. Kent: L 0-6

Varsity Soccer vs. Greenwich Academy: W 1-0
Recap: Porter's varsity soccer made it five wins out of five and five shutouts in a row against a talented and organized Greenwich Academy team. The girls in green dictated the tempo again and worked hard to create chances, the opponents looked to play out of the back and at times were forced into errors which allowed Sydni Scott '18 two fantastic opportunities to give the home team the deserved lead. Carlyn Kosienski '19 and Emily Wogelius '17 went close with free kicks and also contributed to some impressive services from corners that players were unable to put in the back of the net. The second half saw the home team continue to move the ball and put Greenwich under pressure but some last ditch defending and good goalkeeping kept the score at 0-0. Mid way through the second half Kosienski whipped in a corner where it found Gabby Lowe '19, who reacted the quickest to fire the team into the lead. The whole team defended very well and limited Greenwich to only a couple of shots on goal.
