Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

• Eighteen Eastern Connecticut State University business administration students traveled to Rome and Perugia, Italy, from May 22 to June 3 to study international business. Among the students was Thomas Manfredi of Unionville, who majors in Computer Science. Manfredi found adjusting to the local cultures of different cities to be valuable, as well as learning about the business scenes in the regions he visited. A trip highlight for him included going to the Roma vs. Parma soccer game. Prior to the trip, Professor Emiliano Villanueva led the class "International Business in an International Setting," where students researched a range of topics related to business in Italy. Upon their return, students submitted in-depth, 20-page reports reflecting on their experiences in Italy. Topics spanned the geography, history and culture of Italy, as well as Italian politics, business etiquette and economic opportunities.

Emmanuel College, Boston MA

• Bailey Polacek of Farmington graduated from Emmanuel College on Saturday, May 11, 2019, during Emmanuel College's 97th Commencement Exercises on its campus in Boston. Polacek received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a concentration in International Relations and Comparative Politics during the ceremony.

Gettysburg College, Gettysburg PA

• Ashley Van Hoof of Farmington has been placed on the Gettysburg College Dean's Honor list for outstanding academic achievement in the spring 2019 semester. Students with a quality point average of 3.60 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) for a semester's work are placed on the College's Dean's Honor List.

St. Lawrence University, Canton NY

• William S. Sanford of Farmington has been selected for inclusion on St. Lawrence University's Dean's List for academic achievement during the spring 2019 semester. Sanford is a member of the Class of 2019 and is majoring in environmental studies-mathematics. He attended Avon Old Farms School. To be eligible for the Dean's List, a student must have completed at least four courses and have an academic average of 3.6 based on a 4.0 scale for the semester.
