Woman Twice Over Legal Limit With Kids in Car Arrested, Farmington Police Say

A woman was arrested and found to have a BAC twice over the legal limit, according to police. She had two kids in the car.

A Hartford woman was arrested after she was allegedly caught driving under the influence while she had two children in her car.

Jalisa Vergara, 23, was stopped near 1019 Farmington Ave. on March 26 around 1 a.m.

Vergara failed field sobriety tests and was arrested, said Lt. Colin Ryan, police spokesman. There was a 1-year-old and a 5-year-old in the vehicle and the 5-year-old was not secured in a booster seat.

The Department of Children and Families was notified and the children were released to family members.

Vergara submitted to breath tests and the results were .1698 and .1666, both of which are twice over the legal limit of .08

She was charged with operating while under the influence, failure to obey a traffic control signal, transportation of a child without a child restraint system and two counts of risk of injury to a minor.
