Gain a new perspective! Noora Brown, founding Board Member of the Farmington Valley American Muslim Center in Avon, will give an illuminating talk on women and Islam, particularly media perceptions about Muslim women today in contrast with the historical role women have played in Islam.
In addition to her role at the Farmington Valley American Muslim Center, Noora Brown has her Masters degree from Hartford Seminary in Christian/Muslim Relations and serves as the Interfaith Chairwoman. A stay-at-home mom to 3 children who attend Farmington public schools, Noora enjoys watching her kids play sports, reading and volunteering in the community. A self described hijabi (woman who wears a scarf), Noora is always willing to talk about her faith and explain the virtue and the values of Islam.
