CT State Police Trooper From Glastonbury Arrested On Computer Crime Charge: Officials

GLASTONBURY, CT — A 36-year-old Connecticut State Police trooper has been arrested on a computer crime charge, according to authorities.

Trooper First Class Marwing Pena, of Glastonbury, turned himself in at Troop I in Bethany on Tuesday and was charged with third-degree computer crime, a Class D felony.

Details of what led to the arrest were not immediately available. Patch reached out to Connecticut State Police for more information but has not yet received a reply.

Pena was hired as a trooper in October 2018, and was most recently assigned to Troop H in Hartford, according to officials.

"After being charged, Pena was placed on administrative leave, with his police powers suspended immediately," officials said in a statement.

Pena was released after posting a $10,000 non-surety bond, and is scheduled to appear in Hartford Superior Court on May 27.

Tuesday's arrest was not Pena's first. In March 2020, he was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and simple assault in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, following an altercation.

The Hartford Courant reported that Pena was accused of assaulting a woman with whom he was romantically involved at the time.
