GLASTONBURY, CT — Drivers in Glastonbury may see brief detours Thursday evening as tree replacement work is completed at two roundabouts along Hebron Avenue.
The work is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Hebron Avenue and New London Turnpike roundabout and the Hebron Avenue and House Street roundabout.
According to the notice, several trees will be replaced Thursday night at both locations. The work will be completed one median at a time at each roundabout.
During the work, one exit at each location will be temporarily closed. The notice states that the closures will create brief, clearly marked detours for drivers moving through the area.
Traffic patterns are also expected to change several times throughout the evening while crews move between work areas. Motorists should expect minor delays near both roundabouts, according to the notice, although impacts are expected to be minimal.
The work affects two closely traveled points along Hebron Avenue, one at New London Turnpike and one at House Street. Because only one median will be handled at a time and only one exit at each location will be closed during the work, traffic is expected to keep moving with temporary adjustments rather than full shutdowns.
Drivers heading through the area Thursday night may want to allow a little extra time and watch for changing signs and detour markings. The scheduled work window runs until 8:30 p.m., when the tree replacement project is expected to wrap up for the evening.
