GLASTONBURY, CT — Eastbury Pond will be closed to the public for three hours Saturday morning while Parks and Recreation staff take part in training, according to a public notice posted June 4.
The temporary closure is scheduled for Saturday, June 6, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The notice states the closure is needed "to allow for an all-staff Parks and Recreation training." The pond will reopen at noon.
The town said Eastbury Pond has not yet officially opened for the summer season. Even so, the notice says public access is typically allowed at users' own risk before the formal opening. During the training period, that access will be suspended and the pond area will be closed.
The town said the closure applies during the scheduled morning hours only. After that, normal public access will resume at noon. No other service changes or additional closures were listed in the notice.
The announcement frames the training as part of seasonal preparation at the pond. In the posted notice, the town said, "We appreciate your patience as our staff prepares for a safe and successful summer season at Eastbury Pond."
