HEBRON, CT — State Rep. Steve Weir accepted the unanimous Republican endorsement for a third term at the 55th House District convention held May 21 in Hebron.

Weir is serving his second term in the Connecticut House of Representatives and is seeking reelection in the district, which includes Andover, Bolton, Hebron, Marlborough, and portions of Glastonbury.

According to the announcement, the unanimous endorsement reflected support from local Republican leaders and volunteers who have worked alongside Weir during his service in the General Assembly. The endorsement came from Connecticut's 55th House District at the district convention in Hebron.

"It is an honor to serve as State Representative, and I am deeply grateful for the unanimous support of the delegates who have entrusted me with the opportunity to seek another term," Weir said. "Their confidence is both humbling and motivating as I continue working on behalf of the residents of the 55th District."

Weir also pointed to the role of volunteers in local government and representative democracy. "Our towns are run by dedicated volunteers who devote countless hours to public service," Weir said. "Their endorsement of my candidacy reflects our shared commitment to serving our communities, our state, and our nation."

In his statement, Weir connected his public service to the country's upcoming 250th anniversary.

"As we reflect on our nation's 250th birthday, I am reminded that every vote cast, every constituent conversation, and every decision we make is rooted in the freedoms that define our country," Weir said. "Those freedoms continue to inspire my work in Hartford and throughout the district."

Weir said he plans to take his campaign across the district as he seeks another term.

"I look forward to meeting with voters across the district and asking the communities of the 55th District for the opportunity to continue serving as their representative," he said. "Together, we can keep building a stronger future for our families, businesses, and towns."
