GLASTONBURY, CT — Overnight bridge rehabilitation work on the Route 94 (Hebron Avenue) bridge over Route 17 is set to continue next week as part of a larger Connecticut Department of Transportation project to improve bridges across north central Connecticut.
According to the Connecticut Department of Transportation, crews will begin milling and paving the bridge deck next week, with work continuing into the following week. The paving operation will move directly from one phase to the next without interruption.
The project includes milling and resurfacing the bridge deck, reconstructing the bridge deck ends and installing new asphaltic/performed joints designed to extend the bridge's service life.
One lane of traffic will remain open through the construction zone while work is underway. Most construction activities are scheduled to take place overnight, from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., to reduce impacts on daytime traffic.
Motorists should expect temporary lane closures, reduced speed limits and periodic traffic delays during construction.
The DOT said traffic control measures will include advance warning signs, arrow boards, crash trucks and state troopers when needed to help guide traffic safely through the work zone. Construction schedules may change because of weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
The agency is encouraging motorists traveling through the Hebron Avenue and Route 17 area to allow extra travel time, obey posted traffic control devices and reduced speed limits, and use caution in work zones to protect construction crews and other drivers.
The bridge work is part of a broader CTDOT bridge rehabilitation project at multiple locations throughout central Connecticut. The overall project is expected to continue through November 2027.
