GLASTONBURY, CT — A section of House Street in Glastonbury will be subject to temporary traffic detours Nov. 5 and 6 as crews remove and replace a pedestrian bridge over Salmon Brook, town officials announced.
The detours will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. both days between Salmon Brook Drive and Griswold Street.
On Thursday, Nov. 5, crews will remove the existing pedestrian bridge. On Friday, Nov. 6, crews will install the replacement bridge.
Motorists should use alternate routes and expect delays during the work. Only local traffic will be permitted through the affected area, according to the town.
Residents living north of the project site, including those on Nye Road, Spring Street Extension and Short Circle, should use House Street from the Griswold Street intersection to reach their homes.
Motorists and contractors needing access to those roads also should enter and exit House Street through the Griswold Street intersection during the detours.
The temporary restrictions are intended to allow crews to safely complete the pedestrian bridge replacement over Salmon Brook.
