GLASTONBURY — Parking lot improvements at Welles-Turner Memorial Library are scheduled to begin on or around Wednesday, Nov. 4, the Town of Glastonbury announced. The rear parking lot and rear building entrance will close to the public for the duration of construction.
The work will shift the driveway entrance west, reconfigure the existing traffic island and repave portions of the driveway. Pedestrian access improvements are also planned. According to the town, the changes are intended to improve traffic flow and make entering and exiting easier and safer.
During construction, patrons should use the public parking lot behind St. Paul's Church, accessible from Welles Street. Signs will direct drivers to that lot, and patrons should enter the library through its Main Street entrance.
The library will remain open, with regular hours and scheduled programs continuing. Its book drop will also remain available throughout the project.
Construction is expected to last approximately three weeks, with completion anticipated by Wednesday, Nov. 25. The schedule is subject to change, and the town advises patrons to check its website for updates.
