Arthur William Burtchell: Retired Pratt and Whitney Foreman; Avid Outdoorsman
The Glastonbury resident passed away Oct. 20 at the age of 84.

Arthur William Burtchell, 84, of Glastonbury, beloved husband of the late Nancy (Nyland) Burtchell, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 20, 2015.
Born in Mars Hill, ME on January 13, 1931, a son of the late Ossie and Helen (Fitzherbert) Burtchell, he had resided in the East Hartford/Glastonbury area for many years, retiring in Florida.

Arthur was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, East Hartford as a General Foreman after 35 years of dedicated service. Arthur was a former member of the B.P.O.E. Lodges in East Hartford and Glastonbury and was a fan of UCONN basketball teams (both Men and Women) and the Boston Red Sox. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, boating, hunting, hiking, camping, and camp fires. Most of all Arthur was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who truly enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in activities and sporting events.
Arthur will be dearly missed by his devoted children; sons, Arthur W. Burtchell, Jr. and his wife Josephine of South Windsor, Russell Burtchell of Glastonbury; daughters, Patricia Namerow of Middletown, RI, Barbara Donovan and her husband Michael of Glastonbury, Jody DelMastro and her husband Dan of Glastonbury; thirteen adored grandchildren; and five cherished great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Donald Burtchell and his wife Ilean of Mars Hill, ME; a sister, Avis Ford and her husband Ralph of Mars Hill, ME; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, Arthur was predeceased by two daughters, Sandra Helen Burtchell of Glastonbury, and Sherry Burtchell of Windsor; and a brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Arlene Burtchell of Guilford.
Funeral service will be Saturday (October 24th) at 10 am at Buckingham Congregational Church-UCC, 16 Cricket Lane, Glastonbury. Burial with military honors will follow at Buckingham Cemetery, Glastonbury. Relatives and friends may call at the D’Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford on Friday (October 23rd) from 4-6:30 pm.
