Body Found In River In Glastonbury Confirmed to Be Missing Man

The man had last been seen in the river more than a week ago.

GLASTONBURY, CT — A dead body found Wednesday in the Connecticut River in Glastonbury has been confirmed as that of a boater who went missing more than a week earlier.

Environmental Conservation Police confirmed that the body pulled from the river on Wednesday is that of Ivan De Jesus Morales Mencia, 39, of Hartford.

According to witnesses, on June 15, Mencia got into the water from a boat and disappeared from view. Others in the boat made efforts to rescue him, but were unable to do so. Police and fire crews searched the river in East Hartford, but were unable to locate him, according to a statement from the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

Friends of Mencia spotted his body in the river in Glastonbury on Wednesday morning and alerted authorities, according to the DEEP. add that no criminal charges are anticipated related to the incident.
