Ohio Wesleyan University, Delaware OH

  • Elizabeth Rohrs of South Glastonbury is among 14 first-year students at Ohio Wesleyan University selected as 2019-2020 Economics Management Fellows. The four-year fellowships are awarded each fall by Ohio Wesleyan's Department of Economics and Business and by the university's Woltemade Center for Economics, Business and Entrepreneurship. At OWU, Rohrs plans to study business administration and fine arts.

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy NY

  • Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute student-athlete John Sadak of Glastonbury and Xavier High School has been elected as a captain of the football team. Sadak, who has also been on the team's Black Watch, was an All-Liberty League First Team and All-ECAC Honorable Mention linebacker as a junior. He started all 12 games and finished second on the team in unassisted (41)\, assisted (51) and total tackles (92). He had seven tackles for lost yards (25), which was also second on the team, and a team-high five interceptions with 106 return yards. Sadak had at least 11 stops in three games with a season-high 16 against Husson University in the NCAA Playoffs. In 32 career games, the business and management major has 73 solo tackles and 67 assisted for 140 total. He has nine tackles for lost yards (33) and six interceptions (106 return yards). Sadak was the team's Defensive Rookie of the Year as a sophomore and the co-Defensive Player of the Year last season.

Western New England University, Springfield MA

  • Amo-Mensah Amofa of Glastonbury has been named to the Dean's List at Western New England University for the spring semester 2019. Students are named to the Dean's List for achieving a semester grade point average of 3.30 or higher. Amofa is working toward a degree in Arts & Sciences.
