Cigarette Theft Turns into Criminal Credit Card Charges in Glastonbury
A Watertown man is facing several charges.

GLASTONBURY, CT — The theft of two cartons of cigarettes wound up costing a Watertown man a whole lot more, police said.
Police said Jason Thomas, 36, of Watertown, was arrested on Tuesday after he left the Walgreens at 2900 Main St, with two cartons of cigarettes. Police said it turns out he used a credit card that was "procured" under false pretenses.
He was charged with the illegal use of the credit card, using a false statement of procure a credit card, credit card theft, third-degree forgery and sixth-degree larceny, police said.

Thomas appeared in court on Tuesday, according to judicial system records. His bond was reduced from $10,000 to $2,000, but he failed to post it, court records indicate. He is still in custody while awaiting a Thursday court appearance, according to judicial system records.
