Cleaning Woman Charged With Glastonbury Jewel Thefts Arrested Again

The woman and her boyfriend are accused of selling jewelry stolen from homes in South Windsor and Glastonbury.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — A Bolton woman already facing charges of stealing valuables from homes she cleaned in Glastonbury was charged Wednesday with a similar theft in South Windsor.

Ashley Levitt, 31, was charged by South Windsor police with third-degree larceny and fifth-degree larceny. She was released on $5,000 surety bond, and is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court Oct. 6.

Deputy Police Chief Scott Custer said the arrest stems from a May 2016 complaint by a South Windsor resident that she’d found jewelry missing and suspected that her cleaning person may be involved.

Officers interviewed Levitt and recovered a piece of missing jewelry; however, other items remained missing. Investigators followed up with area pawn shops and found Leavitt had pawned some of the victim’s jewelry, Custer said.

Detectives also learned Levitt’s boyfriend had pawned some of the stolen items. The detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Robert Berube, 30, and charged him with fourth-degree larceny.

Berube was released on $15,000 surety bond, and is also scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court Oct. 6.

Levitt is already facing charges of two counts of first-degree larceny, two counts of third-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit both first- and third-degree larceny in connection with her August arrest by Glastonbury police. Berube is charged with conspiracy in that case.
