Coronavirus CT: People's United Bank Restricting Branch Access

HARTFORD/TOLLAND COUNTIES, CT — People's United Bank has closed its branches to the public, except by appointment, as a precaution against coronavirus.

In a letter to customers e-mailed Sunday, bank officials said, "Due to the continued impact of coronavirus, we are taking extra precautions to encourage social distancing, while being able to provide the essential service customers expect and need."

In addition to modified branch hours, the bank is instituting new policies for branch access:

  • Beginning March 23, all in-person banking inside People's United Bank branches will be accessible by appointment only
  • Please call your local branch during hours of operation to check available services and to make your appointment ahead of time.
  • Drive-up window service will continue following a reduced hour schedule and ATM banking will remain available
