84-Year-Old Killed In Multi-Vehicle Crash In Glastonbury: Police

The road was shut down for an extended period of time.

GLASTONBURY, CT — An 84-year-old man was killed in a multi-vehicle crash, police said.

At 2:43 p.m. Tuesday, Glastonbury police, fire, EMS, and Ambulance Service of Manchester (ASM) responded to Hebron Avenue and Glenwood Road for a reported motor vehicle crash with injuries.

Police found an 84-year-old male driver of one of the involved vehicles unconscious. The man was taken by Glastonbury EMS to an area hospital.

A passenger in the same vehicle was transported by ASM for evaluation.

"Preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle, operated by the 84-year-old, was traveling eastbound on Hebron Avenue when it turned left toward Glenwood Road in the path of an oncoming vehicle," police said in a news release. "The impact redirected the offending vehicle into a third vehicle that was waiting to turn onto Hebron Avenue from Glenwood Road."

Metro Traffic Services responded to assist with scene processing and the investigation.

A short time later, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner notified Glastonbury Police the 84-year-old operator had died.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. Hebron Avenue has since reopened. Witnesses or anyone with information to provide are asked to contact Officer Brendan Lynch at 860-633-8301.
