Having been in the fitness industry for over almost 20 years, a gymrat for 30 plus years and a CrossFit box owner for 6 years we've made a lot of mistakes along the way.
This also means we've learned a lot as well. The job of any good coach is to continually look for a way to make his or her trainees progress their fitness to hit goals.
When we started CrossFitting 6 years ago we did what most new CrossFit gym owners. We programmed a ton of sexy/fun metcons or "burners". They were exciting, fun and definitely created a ton of conditioning.

Along the way we sought new knowledge from any and all possible sources. We went to seminar after seminar. We experimented on ourselves and gradually introduced tweaks to our programming year after year.
We certainly are not going to proclaim we are the best at this as there are many ways to skin the cat so to speak. However, we do believe that training in any of our facilities will provide you with decades of experience in fitness and regardless of your goals we can get you where you want to be.

Having said this we know that there are new CrossFit gyms and CrossFit knock-offs that sell " CrossFit lite" fitness. These boxes appear to gear their programming either out of lack of experience or a desire to appeal to women with more "sweaty metcons" in mind.
While I'm certain there is a market for this and we wish them well we will not be a part of it. We believe that a good CrossFit program must have a good quotient of strength/ power built into the weeky/monthly/yearly wods.
Conditioning is relatively easy to get. Strength takes much longer for most people. However strength is what is missing from most of the people we see walking into our doors. Over and over we have seen people who can't do a push up properly, can't do a pull up, can't pick up a barbell that most of our grandmothers that train with us do on a daily basis. The people who stagnate in thier fitness goals are usually the ones who refuse to put the effort into getting strong. Conversely we've seen people break plateaus and reach new heights when they have done their due diligence in earning their strength.
So while we may sadly lose a few members to outfits that want to "get you all sweaty" we will keep our integrity and do what we think is best for your fitness.
