CTDOT Schedules August Bridge Inspections In Glastonbury

GLASTONBURY, CT — Motorists traveling through parts of Glastonbury can expect temporary daytime lane closures Aug. 11 through 13 as the Connecticut Department of Transportation conducts routine bridge inspections at three locations.

The inspections are part of CTDOT's statewide highway bridge inspection program and will be performed by GFT Infrastructure Inc. under contract with the agency's Division of Bridge Safety and Evaluation, according to a town announcement.

The inspection schedule includes:

  • Tuesday, Aug. 11: Bridge No. 00389, Route 17 and Ramp 007 over New London Turnpike.
  • Wednesday, Aug. 12: Bridge No. 00870, Route 17 over New London Turnpike.
  • Thursday, Aug. 13: Bridge No. 05546, Route 3 over Main Street.

Temporary lane closures are planned on New London Turnpike and Main Street from approximately 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day while crews complete the inspections.

Town officials said traffic impacts are expected to be minor. Traffic control will be provided in accordance with CTDOT work zone safety guidelines, and the Glastonbury Police Department will assist with traffic control as needed.

Motorists are encouraged to allow extra travel time, obey posted traffic control devices and reduced speed limits, and use caution while traveling through work zones to help protect inspection crews and other drivers.

The inspection schedule may change because of weather or other unforeseen circumstances, according to the announcement.
