Doomed Glastonbury School Ranked in State Top 10

GLASTONBURY, CT — An Glastonbury elementary school marked for closure after the upcoming academic year has shown up in the top 10 of a state ranking.

Niche.com released its annual rankings of the best elementary schools in the country this week, as well as statewide rankings. Eastbury School was ranked No. 9 in Connecticut.

Hebron Avenue, Hopewell, and Buttonball Lane schools all cracked the top 100 in the state rankings Eastbury has been designated for closure after the 2017-18 school year.

Similar to the ranking of the state's best high schools, Fairfield County controlled the top of the list. Twelve of the state's top 15 elementary schools are located in Fairfield County, according to Niche.com.
Niche, a website for researching schools, used a variety of factors, including SAT/ACT scores, student-teacher ratio, the quality of colleges students consider and reviews from students and parents for its ranking. Niche assigns a standardized score for each factor, which is then weighted before an overall score is calculated for each school district.
