Former Glastonbury School Principal Injured in Attack in Israel: Report

The educator reportedly was shot and stabbed in a terrorist attack this week.

Former Hopewell School principal Richard Lakin was shot and stabbed by two assailants in a terrorist attack on a bus in Jerusalem on Tuesday before the attackers were shot by police, according to a news report.

The Courant reports that Lakin “in the intensive care unit of Hadassah Ein Karem Hospital where he is fighting for his life.”

Lakin served as the principal of Hopewell from 1969 to 1984 when he and his wife Karen decided to move with young family to Israel where he continued a career in education, according to the report.

On Wednesday night Lakin was in critical condition undergoing surgery for stab wounds in the neck and lower abdomen, and gunshot wounds in the hip.
