Frontier Expanding Fiber-Optic Network In Glastonbury With Utility Work Planned

GLASTONBURY, CT — Frontier is expanding its communications network in Glastonbury, with underground utility work beginning near Hopewell Road and Matson Hill Road as part of a four-area expansion planned throughout town.

The first phase of the project will include construction along Steep Hollow Drive, a portion of Leigh Gate Road, Heather Glen Road, Ashley Court, a small section of Hopewell Road, Murray Drive and Bittersweet Lane.

Residents along the affected roads should see flags and utility markings along streets and the frontages of properties indicating the locations of existing utilities.

The town said residents should also receive an informational flyer from Parkside Utility, the contractor handling the work, detailing upcoming construction activities.

Frontier is planning additional fiber-optic installation in the fall near Shoddy Mill Road. The work is expected to include Bridle Path Lane, Crosby Road, Martin Terrace, Butler Drive and Needletree Lane.

Another area of planned work is near Wesleyan Road, including Princeton Lane, Trinity Avenue, UConn Avenue, Deerfield Drive, Skyview Drive, East Opal Drive, Vista Lane and Ruff Circle.

Frontier also has notified the town that construction plans are being finalized for fiber-optic installation around Fern Street, including Sunrise Drive, Zenith Lane and Horizon Lane.

Tentative dates for the Fern Street-area work have not yet been established.
